Accreditation for Master Landscapers level
This is a step towards preparation for a licensing system in WA. LIAWA would begin self-policing of the landscaping industry as the more landscapers we can elevate to a higher level of professionalism, the sooner Building Commission would recognise the urgency to work with LIAWA to push for licensing in WA. Whilst the COAG discussions for nationalisation of licensing during the Gillard era was shelved by the Abbott govt, it is imperative that industry takes control of its industry and show proactivity in self-regulation as a step towards formalising regulation in the future. This would take a lot of support by industry, as LIAWA cannot move this without the support in numbers to take to Building Commission and/or to get the move gazetted for consideration sooner than later.
Great networking and subcontracting opportunities
LIAWA is unique with varied types of members within its professional community. LIAWA represents member companies providing services in landscape designer/ architects, contractors/ installers, horticulturists, suppliers and/or trades. Members in different regions and metropolitan areas are encouraged to refer businesses to members.
Stay ahead of your competitors
LIAWA published a series of trade magazine, titled shape, from 2009 – 2012 to communicate recommended best practices recommended in the industry. Other projects were run with the aims of recommending Best Practices via Events, Expos, outdoor garden shows and various workshops. LIAWA also updated members via emails on key updates in the landscaping industry.
